Relationships are a difficult thing to maintain these days. Just look at the world around you right now. A pandemic is taking people’s lives. The economy is falling through the floor. People are getting laid off right and left. There’s a slight drop-off in Covid-19 cases where I’m from, but otherwise nothing seems to be going in the right direction. There are a lot of stresses out there in the world and there is a good chance that you are bringing some of the home with you. If you know what negative changes are affecting your relationship, you’re one step closer to strengthening your relationship.

One thing that you are going to need to do to keep your relationship as strong as it was before is to plan one day a week where you and your partner do something fun together. It doesn’t have to be anything extraordinary or super adventurous. But it should be something that the two of you enjoy doing together. It also doesn’t have to be elaborate. The key is spending time with and enjoying each other.

TV or quick little sessions before bed don’t cut it for this. You don’t want to TV distracting your or taking away your attention. Don’t let computers, video games, social media, etc. distract you either. Just you and your SO doing something together.

There are a lot of things that the two of you can do to spice up your relationship so that neither one of you feel alone, even when you are together. Plan a date night and go out to dinner once a week. Dates don’t end once you’re serious about each other. They don’t end when you’re married. Dates are a MAJOR KEY *DJ Khaled Voice* for strengthening your relationship and keeping it fresh. And food is a great bonding experience. Good food and good company. Who wouldn’t want that?

Keeping a relationship strong is a difficult thing to do these days. A few decades ago, there wasn’t as much technology and the pace of life was a bit slower. You could sit down at the dinner table and spend the rest of the night together talking and having fun. Today, your job can become a priority in your life and you might find that work is trying to call, text, and email you at all hours of the day and night. No job is worth ruining your relationship for, and you need to fully understand and accept that in order to remain happy in your life.
